On Monday, David Production’s anime adaptation of upcoming Atsushi Ohkubo’s Fire Force (En En no Shōbōtai) manga revealed a new key visual on their official website.
The anime is set to premiere on July 5 in MBS and TBS’s new “Super Animism” programming block. Funimation will stream the anime on its FunimationNow streaming service this year.

On Tuesday, the official site of the anime also revealed that Mamoru Miyano (Voiced Bungou Stray Dogs’ Osamu Dazai and Durarara!!’ Masaomi Kida) will voice Benimaru Shinmon.
Shinmon is a hybrid second and third Generation pyrokinetic and Special Fire Force 7’s battalion commander. He is regarded as the Force’s strongest firefighter and does not abide by the rules of the organization.

Story
The city of Tokyo is plagued by a deadly phenomenon: spontaneous human combustion! Luckily, a special team is there to quench the inferno: The Fire Force! The fire soldiers at Special Fire Cathedral 8 are about to get a unique addition. Enter Shinra, a boy who possesses the power to run at the speed of a rocket, leaving behind the famous “devil’s footprints” (and destroying his shoes in the process). Can Shinra and his colleagues discover the source of this strange epidemic before the city burns to ashes?

The anime is directed by Yuki Yase with Yamato Haishima in charge of the series scripts. Hideyuki Morioka is handling the characters designs. The anime is produced by Studio David Production.
Background
Fire Force is written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōukubo (Also the Creator of Soul Eater). On Sep 2015, Atsushi Ōkubo’s manga Fire Force was published by Kodansha and has been serialized in the Weekly Shōnen Magazine.
