Fireforce is literally the hottest anime of the summer season of 2019. The animation is stunning looking, with the fight scenes perfectly coordinated to keep up with the pace of the story. There is a reason why action anime fans love anime like Fire Force (Enen no Shouboutai). But it’s also not surprising as studio David Production known for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure epic fight scenes is behind the animation. And don’t get me started on the fantastic opening and ending theme song, especially the intro song. The opening song’s lyrics suit the kind of story the anime represents. Plus, the anime is an adaptation of a popular shounen manga series from the creator of Soul Eater, so better brace yourself for some sizzling action.
Fire Force’s story sets in a world where one of the main reasons for people’s death is Spontaneous Human Combustion. It’s a phenomenon that transforms normal humans into violent flaming creatures known as Infernals. To combat the rising Infernals issue, the Tokyo Armed Forces, Fire Defense Agency, and Holy Church of Sol started the Special Fire Force. The Fire Force uses Humans who can control fire flames to defeat the Infernals. Shinra Kusakabe, who lost his mother to an Infernal attack, joins the Special Fire Force Company 8 to solve the mystery behind the cause of Infernals.
Fire force has well done original character designs and well thought out story concept. The anime also has ecchi elements sprinkled all over it, just like any other typical shounen series. But what makes shounen anime good is the fight scenes, and Fire Force has a flamming amount of fight and action scenes.

A group called Libra works in the shadow to make sure this supernatural trouble doesn’t spread chaos to the outside world. As long as he can remember, Rin Okumura was always able to see demons. But one day, demons decide to ambush him, and on that day, he learns a secret that could turn the world upside down. There are two worlds, with humans living in Assiah and demons living in Gehenna. But for demons to travel between the world, they need to possess a human and demon king Satan always had a desire to conquer Assiah. But he needs a strong vessel to possess, so he sends his son instead. It turns out, Rin is the son of Satan, and now Satan demands him to return to Gehenna. But Rin has no plans of returning to his father, so he decides to train as an exorcist to defend Assiah from demons.
03. Koutetsujou no Kabaneri (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress)
During the industrial revolution, a mysterious virus emerges and takes over humans by turning them into flesh-eating creatures called Kabane. The only way to kill a Kabane is by destroying its steel-coated heart. But if a human gets bitten by a Kabane, then they are doomed to turn into Kabane themselves. The human civilization resorts to living inside massive walls to protect themselves from the ever-rising swarm of Kabanes. The only way to travel between other wall fortress is by heavily-armored trains. Ikoma is a young engineer who repairs the trains, and he has invented a weapon that can pierce through Kabane’s heart. Now he is only waiting to test it on a living Kabane, and it seems like it’s going to happen very soon.
04. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Edward and Alphonse Elric lost lots of things at a young age when they attempted to resurrect their dead mother. They tried the forbidden alchemy of human transmutation but failed at it and lost something more precious. Edward lost his limbs and was on the verge of losing his little brother Alphonse. But with his knowledge of alchemy, Edward binds his brother’s soul to metal armor. After the incident, the brothers get recruited at the State Military, where they learn about the Philosopher’s Stone. A mythical object rumored to able to bend the rules of alchemy. Edward hopes to use the military resources to find the stone and restore his brother’s body. But as he goes more in-depth in the search, he starts learning the darker truth behind the legendary stone.

Now Eren has decided to dedicate his life to fight against Titans by joining the Survey Corps, an elite military unit. But Eren is not alone. He has his childhood friends Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert, with him in his fight to save humanity.

06. Kimetsu no Yaiba
After the death of his father, Tanjirou Kamado shoulders the responsibility of supporting his family. While they are living in poverty at the top of a remote mountain, Tanjirou’s family enjoys thier peaceful life. One day, Tanjirou goes down the hill to a local village to sell some coal for money. But the night falls on his way back, and Tanjirou takes shelter at an older man’s house when he warns him about flesh-eating creatures that roam during the night. The next day, when Tanjirou returns home, he witnesses a horrible sight of his family’s bloody corpse lying around. While catching his breath, he notices that his sister Nezuko has survived but has changed into a bloodthirsty demon. On that spot, Tanjirou vows to himself that he will avenge his family while protecting his sister’s remaining humanity.
