The Day I Became a God (Kamisama ni Natta Hi) is another must-see anime by Jun Maeda, famous for pulling on fans’ heartstrings with his writing style. The title is deceptively clear for what it’s about, and notionally the way it comes across in the synopsis is pretty intriguing. However, in later episodes, the anime escalates in some compelling ways. The series grows and introduces more characters and plotlines, quickly taking you on a journey far and away from the series’ simple beginning.
Synopsis: During summer vacation, a high school boy named Youta Narukami was playing with his best friend. Suddenly, a mysterious young girl appears, calling herself the “god of omniscience” and telling him that “The world will end in 30 days.” At first, he does not believe her, but as her several predictions began to prove right, he starts to believe her. She decided on Youta as her companion and his place as a stay until the end of the world.
The Day I Became a God does a great job of balancing out the series’s wacky comedy and narrative-side very well. The art style is excellent, and studio P.A Works has put a lot of effort into it. Also, characters in the anime end up being among the most engaging and complex in their respective roles. If you are looking for more anime with a similar theme, then look no further.
