High school students getting involved in a battle over some mysterious power is nothing new, and it’s not new for ecchi mixed in it as well. While ecchi anime aren’t known for their story, Ikki Tousen manages to have a premise that has exponentially more depth than others of its kind. The fights and fanservice are relatively good and well-executed, a combination not seen nowadays.
While most high school action-ecchi anime dime a dozen and are generic at best, Ikki Tousen, in contrast, is a somewhat pleasant series to watch with similar settings and lots of fanservice. Speaking of fanservice, Ikki Tousen has them in spades. It is almost admirable how completely brazen and unconcerned the series is about the chest and panties shots and cloth ripping fights.

Ikki Tousen is a martial art, ecchi anime series produced by Studio J.C.Staff. The anime is an adaptation of a manga series with the same name written and drawn by Yuji Shiozaki.
Synopsis: Magatamas are ancient jewels possessing the spirits of the heroes who tried and failed to unite China in the Three Kingdoms era. These jewels have been handed down from generation to generation to Toushis, the inheritors who can draw out the full potential of these magatamas.
In the Kanto region of Japan, seven high schools are constantly at war for supremacy over each other. The Toushi of each school possesses the Magatama jewels. Hakufu Sonsaku is one such Toushi who recently transfers to Nanyo Academy. What awaits her at the Nanyo Academy is her fate that may forever change the entire course of history.
