Gintama is an action parody anime series animated by studio Sunrise. The anime is an adaptation of a popular manga series written and drawn by Hideaki Sorachi.
Synopsis: In an alternate universe version of the Edo period, Earth has been invaded by an alien race known as Amanto possessing super-futuristic technology. All the Samurai in Japan tried to fight the aliens but yielded after seeing their power.
After losing to the aliens, the shogun made a deal with aliens, allowing them to enter the country and agree to place a ban on real swords. The series follows Gintoki Sakata, an unemployed samurai who lives a carefree life and makes a living by doing odd jobs.
