Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Anime Will Have 26 Episodes

With the third episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Anime right around the corner of this weekend. The official twitter account of the anime announced that the series will get 26 episodes over two cours.

The anime premiered on April 6. The series is currently being streamed on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow.

Plot

It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself.

Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.

Haruo Sotozaki is directing the anime at studio ufotable. Akira Matsushima is in charge of character design with Miyuki Sato, Yōko Kajiyama, and Mika Kikuchi serving as sub-character designers.

The anime is based on Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series by Koyoharu Gotōge. The manga started serializing in the 11th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump on February 15, 2016.
