After featuring two films; Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Movie 1: Tsudou Hikari in 2016. And Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Movie 2: Moeru Inochi in 2017. Wit Studio is returning with a new sequel movie. On Thursday, during live streaming of Plus Ultra Fuji TV Anime Lineup Presentation 2018. Fuji TV announced the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress third movie is in production. Titled as Kōtetsujō no Kabaneri: Unato Kessen. The official website for the anime also teases that the film is “middle volume” of the story. The film is set to take place six months after the events of the TV series Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. So it is kind of season 2 for the series.
The staff for the anime is returning for the film. Tetsuro Araki is directing the series at Wit Studio. Ichiro Okouchi is providing the scripts. Haruhiko Mikimoto is in charge of original character designs. Hiroyuki Sawano is composing the soundtracks.
DMM Games is also releasing a game titled Kōtetsujō no Kabaneri -Ran- Hajimaru Michiato. The game would be available for mobile devices and browsers. It was announced on Thursday, that the game would launch in Japan this summer.
A mysterious virus appears during the industrial revolution. The virus transforms infected humans into Kabane and spreads rapidly everywhere. Kabane are aggressive, undead creatures that cannot be defeated. Unless the glowing heart, which is protected by a layer of lead, is pierced, or a critical body part is wholly severed (such as the head). Unfortunately, most melee weapons and the steam-pressure guns used by the bushi are not very effective against them.
On the island country Hinomoto. People have built fortress-like “stations” to shelter themselves from Kabane. People access the stations and transport wares between them with the help of fortified steam locomotives. One day, a hayajirō hijacked by the Kabane crashes into Aragane Station and they overrun the city. A young engineer called Ikoma. Uses the opportunity to test his anti-Kabane weapon, the “piercing gun,” but gets infected in the process. Although he manages to resist the virus and becomes a Kabaneri, a human-Kabane hybrid. Assisted by Mūmei, another Kabaneri who appears to help them. Ikoma and the other survivors of the station board a hayajiro named Kōtetsujō. And leave to seek shelter elsewhere, fighting the hordes of Kabane along the way.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is an anime series by Wit Studio. The series is directed by Tetsurō Araki and written by Ichirō Ōkouchi. With music by Hiroyuki Sawano. And original character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto. The series premiered on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block on April 8, 2016. And the series ended on June 30, 2016, with a total of 12 episodes. A prologue for the anime premiered for a week in theaters across Japan starting March 18, 2016. Amazon streamed the series on their Amazon Prime Instant Video service. Two compilation films premiered in Japanese theaters on December 31, 2016, and January 7, 2017.
